HOHENFELS, Germany -- After a long wait, five new UH-72A Lakota Light
Utility Helicopters arrived Wednesday at the Joint Multinational
Readiness Center.
Falcon Team pilots landed three twin-engine Lakotas on Wednesday morning
at the airfield on Army Garrison Hohenfels. Pilots landed two more of
the light utility helicopters later in the day.

WASHINGTON -- The Department of the Army released Wednesday the 2010
Army Modernization Strategy (AMS).
"The goal of Army modernization is to develop and field the best
equipment available to allow our Soldiers to be successful against our
enemies," said Gen. George W. Casey Jr., chief of staff of the Army. "We
must continue to transform into a force that is versatile,
expeditionary, agile, lethal, sustainable and interoperable, so that our
Soldiers will have a decisive advantage in any fight."

2011, more than 20,000 Soldiers from Fort Campbell's 101st Airborne
Division will deploy to Afghanistan, the first time an entire Army
division has deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom within one year.

Protected, more commonly referred to as MRAP, vehicles with Network
Integration Kits designed to give the bomb-defeating vehicles the

WASHINGTON (Army News Service, April 14, 2010) -- The mine-resistant
ambush- protected all-terrain vehicle, or M-ATV, is on its way to
Afghanistan to replace many of the up-armored Humvees.
"It will not be too long before we will be able to get everybody who can
be out of the up-armored Humvee into the MRAP ATV," said Vice Chief of
Staff of the Army Gen. General Peter W. Chiarelli.

The U.S. Army's Feb. 25 release of a formal Request for Proposal, or
RFP, to industry marks a significant step forward in the effort to build
a first-of-its-kind, highly versatile Ground Combat Vehicle - a
nine-man squad Infantry Carrier that can protect against IEDs and other
threats, move in urban and off-road terrain and accommodate emerging
technologies such as lightweight armor composites and electronics as
they become available, service leaders said.
