KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan (Oct. 23, 2009) -- The first
mine-resistant, ambush-protected all-terrain vehicles designated for
southern Afghanistan arrived here, Oct. 22 by air transport.

WASHINGTON (Army News Service, Oct. 27, 2009) -- Two new lightweight
machine guns, the Land Warrior System and an improved oxygen device for
aviators were among equipment displayed Tuesday at the Pentagon.
Officials from Program Executive Office Soldier met with members of the
media at the Pentagon to discuss the latest equipment fielded to
Soldiers. Four program managers from PEO Soldier talked about advances
in weapons, personal gear, and lasers and sights that Soldiers use on
the battlefield.

South Korean colonel receives Bronze Star for Afghanistan service |

YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea -- A Republic of Korea Army colonel
received the Bronze Star for his service in Afghanistan during a
ceremony here Sept. 24.
Col. Joeng Jang-soo, who commanded South Korean troops in Afghanistan,
was presented the medal by 8th U.S. Army Commanding General Lt. Gen.
Joseph F. Fil Jr.

CAMP BUNDELA, India (Oct. 28, 2009) -- With a massive display of
firepower and teamwork, the U.S. and Indian armies finished their
largest joint military exercise to date yesterday.
The exercise is dubbed "Yudh Abhyas," loosely translated as "war preparation."
About 250 U.S. soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 14th Cavalry Squadron,
based out of Hawaii, brought 17 of their Stryker combat vehicles and
paired with the Indian army's 7th Mechanized Infantry Battalion here,
at one of India's premier military training sites.

WASHINGTON (Army News Service, Oct. 16, 2009) -- Testing anomalies cited in an Oct. 16 Government Accountability Office report on body armor do not mean the plates are unsafe, said Brig. Gen. Peter Fuller, program executive officer for the organization that fields new equipment to Soldiers.
