WHITE SANDS, N.M. (Dec. 15, 2009) -- The Army recently completed networked operational tests of the first pairing of its developmental Common Controller device with equipment now used by Soldiers in theater from the Land Warrior effort.

WASHINGTON (Army News Service, Jan. 6, 2010) -- In order to meet the Army's dwell-time goal, the service will add a new combat aviation brigade.

"That's coming out of resources we already have; we are still wrestling with where that's going to go, where that's going to stand up," said Maj. Gen. James O. Barclay III, commanding general of the Aviation Center of Excellence and Fort Rucker, Ala.

NCO pays it forward, earns Soldier's Medal

BAGHDAD -- After an improvised explosive device ripped through his vehicle, Staff Sgt. James Rivera needed medical attention and quick. It was 1st Sgt. Joshua Pentz who saved his life that day in Afghanistan in 2004, by getting him out, using his combat lifesaver skills and calling for a medevac. Nearly five years later, Rivera was the one saving the life of another - an action that earned him the Soldier's Medal Dec. 22.
