The U.S. Army's Recruiting Command announced recently a $20,000
"quick-ship" bonus for aspiring recruits. The bonus applies to new
recruits with no prior military service who enlist for at least two
years active duty in America's Army. They must agree to report to basic
training within 30 days of enlistment. The program ends Sept. 30

8/3/2007 - CONTINGENCY OPERATING BASE SPEICHER, Iraq (AFPN) -- Airmen
roll out of the gates from here in armored Humvees and drive dangerous
roads into Tikrit and the surrounding areas five days a week to do
their part in helping Iraq transition to a peaceful democracy.
For the Airmen assigned to the 732nd Expeditionary Security Forces
Squadron Det. 6, arming up and putting on more than 50 pounds of body
armor and equipment in 115-degree heat is part of their role as members
of Iraqi Police Transition Teams.
As coalition forces and Iraqis fight the insurgency, Iraqi police
stations are established in neighborhoods with police transition teams
to help get the process started.

8/3/2007 - SOUTHWEST ASIA (AFPN) -- Airmen
and B-1B Lancers from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, have taken the reins
from the 34th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron here. Since arriving in
July, the 9th EBS has logged about 25 missions, dropping bombs on
enemies throughout Iraq and Afghanistan.
To help ease the transition, the 9th EBS deployed aircrews ahead of
time to work and fly missions with the 34th EBS, known as "rainbow
crews." Rainbow crews also pair new crewmembers with experienced
crewmembers. That way, there will never be a completely inexperienced
9th EBS aircrew in the area of responsibility.

8/3/2007 - WASHINGTON (AFPN) -- Air
Force and Navy top uniformed leaders gathered Aug. 2 in Washington for
"Warfighter Talks" to discuss ways the two services can improve upon
their legacy of cooperation and interdependence as the strategic
striking arms for the nation.
"The Air Force and Navy are complementary strategic forces who do
things on a global scale for our nation," said Gen. T. Michael Moseley,
the Air Force chief of staff.

New Surveillance Camera Minimizes Danger in Iraq |

Fort Belvoir, Va. (Army News Service, July 27, 2007) - A new
surveillance system that minimizes Soldiers' exposure to harm while
providing continual observation in operating areas has been fielded in
Iraq after just three weeks of design and manufacturing.
The Army's Rapid Equipping Force developed the Rapid Deployment
Integrated Surveillance System, or RDISS, to improve situational
awareness for Soldiers at joint security stations and combat outposts
throughout Iraq.
