Air Force proposes adding 23 F-15s, F-16s at Nellis

1/25/2007 - NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. (AFNEWS) -- The Air Force is proposing to base 23 additional F-15 Eagles and F-16 Fighting Falcons here and to add about 520 people as a result of changes mandated by the recent Base Realignment and Closure process.

Under the proposed action, the 64th Aggressor Squadron would receive five F-16 aircraft and the 65th Aggressor Squadron would receive 18 F-15s in fiscal years 2007, 2010 and 2011.

The SAR-21 ("Singapore Assault Rifle - 21st Century") is a bullpup assault rifle designed and manufactured in Singapore. First revealed and subsequently adopted by the Singapore Armed Forces in 1999, it was intended to replace the locally license-built M16S1. Many of its design features are directly intended to counter the weaknesses of the M16 as encountered operationally by infantrymen.

Navy Approves Spot Promotion of Naval Special Warfare Officers

CORONADO, Calif. (NNS) -- Sixteen Naval Special Warfare (NSW) lieutenants have been approved for promotion to the grade of lieutenant commander in the first ever, SEAL (Sea, Air, Land) spot promotions in U.S. Navy history. Subject to confirmation by the Senate, the promotions highlight the effort the Navy is taking to support one of its cornerstone communities in the fight against terrorism.
